World Wide Web technology describes the term Web2.0 as a web design whose main motive is to increase collaboration amongst web-users through information sharing and creativity enhancement.
This has led to the evolution of web based communities and hosted services, which include wikis, blogs, RSS and social networking sites.
Users are entitled to own data on this Web2.0 site and also exercise control over that. Web2.0 sites provide a rich user-friendly platform based on some rich media like Ajax, Flex, and other social networks. Users have a rich experience while participating with extensive content, metadata, pictures and videos. Through extensive user network, web2.0 provides openness and collective intelligence.
Web2.0 works through the following techniques: It works on cascading style sheets with social classification, indexing and subsequent tagging, involving rich internet application techniques, which are Ajax and Flash based. Other tools include semantically valid XHTML and HTML mark-up and data usage through RSS and Atom feeds. Mash-ups, merging content, and client and server side Weblog publishing tools are some other features on which Web2.0 is based up on.
How is Web 2.0 more competent: As compared to Web2.0. These websites are based on services with cost-effective parameters to judge them. Since more and more people are using the data and giving the feedback so there is a control over the data recreation. This in turn furbishes collective intelligence. There is no single service window but a long queue of self service customers which have to be satisfied in terms of knowledge and requirements. Web 2.0 is more competent as the software is not based on a single service device and has lightweight user interfaces with development models.
Levels of Web2.0: These are categorized into four levels. First level starts with applications work off-line and on-line, for example MapQuest and Google Maps. Second in the series is when applications work offline and gain features online and include Google Docs and Spreadsheets and iTunes. Third application can work offline and gain advantages from going online. This includes Flickr, which benefits from its shared photo-database and tag database. Last applications derive effectiveness inter-human connections and network effects, for example eBay, Wikipedia, Skype and others.
Web2.0 is the read-write web, compared to Web 1.0 which is a read-only web, and this is the reason that it is gaining more popularity.
